In episode 122 of the EMS Educast, co-host Rob Theriault flies solo from Paramedicine 2011 in Niagara Falls, Canada. Rob interviews two speakers from the conference.

Dave Taylor is the Director of Urgent and Prehospital Care at Liverpool John Moore’s University (LJMU) in Liverpool, England. In his presentation “From Horse and Cart to State of the Art” Dave took us through the evolution of EMS education in England.  His shocking revelations about paramedic education and clinical practice in England were both intriguing and inspiring. In Rob’s interview with Dave, the highlights of his presentation are revealed and some of the details are sure to spark discussion and debate.

Walter Tavares’ presentation was entitled “Developing and Assessing Clinical Reasoning in Paramedics”.  In this engaging presentation Walter explored some of the current theories of clinical reasoning and drew on audience precipitation to deconstruct the decision making process of the most clinically astute paramedics in the field.
